Is your
home environment safe?
You might be thinking that your home is clean and safe because it looks
clean and safe. However, there are natural chemicals in the environment
that can harm your health and your family's.
Are you sure that
the air you are breathing is free from high concentrations of radon
[radioactive gas]? Is your water source contaminated with pesticide and
harmful bacteria?
Test your home
environment for harmful substances and organisms. In high concentrations,
chemicals can cause health problems, especially in children and family
members. Make sure your family's health is not in jeopardy. Test for radon
in the air, harmful bacteria, pesticide in the water, mold in the walls
and more!
We provide you with
information, products and services for the safety and health of your home
environment and its occupants.
What is a Radon?
Radon - a radioactive gas found in some
homes that,
if occurring in strong enough concentrations, can cause health problems.
Everyone should test their homes for one of
the leading causes of lung cancer in the country: indoor radon gas. In
some areas of the country, as many as one out of two homes has high levels
of radon. Radon levels can soar during the colder months when residents
keep windows and doors closed and spend more time indoors.
"Twenty-two thousand people die from lung cancer each year in the
United States from exposure to indoor radon". "Yet Americans could help
prevent these deaths and protect their families by testing their homes for
radon as soon as possible." Christine Todd Whitman, Former EPA
Administrator

Effects of Lead Poisoning
A child can have already absorbed lead
into their bodies during pregnancy if the mother was exposed to lead.
Children and adults can be exposed by breathing, eating or drinking
materials containing lead and through skin contact. Because children are
not yet fully developed, effects of lead poisoning affects many aspects of
their progression and growth. Speech delay, hyperactivity, attention
deficit disorder, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, neurological
and renal damage, stunted growth, anemia, hearing loss, and cognitive
damage can result from the effects of lead poisoning
a soft heavy toxic malleable metallic element; bluish white when freshly
cut but tarnishes readily to dull gray; "the children were playing with
lead soldiers"
Lead poisoning is caused when lead is absorbed into the body, most often
through the ingestion of dust, soil and paint containing lead. While the
effects of lead poisoning are very serious, children most significantly
affected by this heavy metal, which is toxic to the human body.
